Chimney Services

There are times when we visit your home and the chimney doesn’t need anything! We simply tell you the current condition, and give you a projection for when a potential cleaning is needed.

There are times when the chimney may need cleaning, or in some cases your chimney may need maintenance. Below are the maintenance tasks we do most commonly.

Service List

  • Chimney Inspection: $100
  • Chimney Sweep: $225 – $350
  • Caps and Covers: $200 – Situational
  • Firebox Rebuild: $800 – Situational
  • Water Heater Venting (Liner): $1500 – Situational
  • Top Mount Damper: $400 – $800
  • Masonry Work: Situational

All cleanings include drop cloths, a heavy duty bagged and HEPA filtered vacuum. Most importantly, when applicable we vent the entire clean out of your chimney with our vacuum exhaust. This helps prevent most of the messy creosote from coming back in the home.

Chimney cleanings have 2 options:

Standard Cleaning: $225

Firebox scrub, removal of damper plate, smoke chamber cleaning with our rotational tooling, flue cleaning, vacuuming behind damper frame to remove all debris that was cleaned off masonry walls, re-installing damper, checking the function and clean up.

Premium Cleaning: $350

This includes everything in the standard and more. A good candidate for this service needs a more intense clean or wants to go the extra mile for fireplace safety. We use firebox scrubbing bicarbonate, heavy duty metal tooling and a creosote powder that coats the inside of the entire chimney. We clean glass doors if applicable, perform minor firebox tuck pointing if needed as well as a full exterior chimney, roof and gutter inspection. We really go the extra mile for this service.

Inspections

There are many things we see that are misdiagnosed, sometimes because of lack of experience, and other times because the companies are looking to meet a sales protocol. Many times we come in to give clarity to the situation.

Ex. John was quoted $6500 to fix his flue because smoke was showing up in his second fireplace when he was having a fire in the basement. We found out there was no flue issue, the secondary fireplace was sucking in smoke because the damper wasn’t properly closed. Not only was the $6500 work not needed, it wouldn’t have fixed the problem.  There is example after example of these same situations. At a minimum, we love to be a point of reference for your system and help get you in the right direction. If the work is out of scope we have very specific people we refer to.

Water Heaters

Certain water heaters vent through your utility flue in the chimney. When you upgrade systems or direct vent your furnace the water heater loses its ability to get the gas up and out of your home. This is a concern for the longevity of your water heater, the structure of your chimney and most importantly the health of your family, if these gases aren’t getting out your could be breathing them in. We fix this issue by installing the appropriate diameter flexible liner for your system.

Ex. Mary is quoted major exterior masonry work (thousands) because her chimney was ‘leaking’. We found out there wasn’t a major masonry issue and the leaking was actually her water heater improperly venting.
